Shields
You're skilled at using shields to block attacks, and even to bash enemies in the face.
- 2+ ranks: with a shield equipped, you can Parry (Might save) against ranged attacks, just as 2+ ranks of Acrobatics let you Dodge melee attacks.
- A raised shield adds its shield bonus to your Parry, Dodge and Deflect rolls until the start of your next turn.
- For every 2 ranks you gain in this skill, choose 1 shield technique (see Weapons & Armor, Shields).
Actions
Raise Shield ()
Requires: You are wielding a shield.
You hold your shield ready. Until the start of your next turn, its bonus applies to your Parry, Dodge and Deflect.
Bash (Attack)
Requires: You are wielding a shield.
You thrust or swing your shield at a foe: a melee attack, rolled against the target's chosen defense.
Critical Success: You deal your shield's damage plus twice your Might.
Success: You deal your shield's damage plus your Might.
Critical Failure: Something goes wrong, as the GM decides; usually you provoke an opportunity attack from the target.
Shield Block Ⓡ (Reaction, Trained)
Requires: Your shield is Raised.
When an attack hits you, you snap your shield into its path for 1 Reaction Point, reducing the attack's damage by the shield's Hardness. You and the shield each take any remaining damage, which may break or destroy the shield.
